On February 28, 2025 (Thursday), our school celebrated Science Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event was an insightful and engaging experience for all attendees, featuring a variety of performances and presentations that highlighted the significance of science in our daily lives. The celebration was a collective effort of students, teachers, and parents, making it an inclusive event that showcased the depth of scientific knowledge and creativity.
Introduction:
The celebration began with an inspiring introduction by Vijaya Ma’am, who welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of Science Day. She highlighted how science plays a crucial role in our understanding of the world and urged students to embrace scientific thinking to solve problems and contribute to society. To mark the occasion, Headmistress Manisha Mahajan Ma’am led a brief but heartfelt worship of the renowned scientist, Dr.C.V. Raman, whose groundbreaking contributions to physics continue to inspire generations of students and scientists alike. This act honored his legacy and set the tone for the event.
Importance of the Day:
Following this, two eighth-grade students, Chaware Siddhant and Ayush Kusgaonkar, shared the significance of Science Day with the audience. They explained how this day honors the contributions of scientists and the importance of scientific advancements that shape our future. Their speech reflected their passion for science and conveyed a clear message about the need to explore and understand the world through scientific inquiry.
Song Performance:
The cultural segment of the program was marked by a beautiful song performed by Tanisha Chavan. The song was related to science, expressing how it influences and enhances our daily lives. The melodious performance captivated the audience and set the stage for the next segment.
Drama on Superstition:
The next highlight was a thought-provoking drama presented by the 9th-grade students of Brahmagiri and Vindhya. The drama depicted the impact of superstitions on society and how they often contradict scientific principles. The students effectively portrayed common superstitions, which sparked a discussion about the importance of questioning beliefs and seeking logical explanations.
Science Experiments:
After the drama, the 8th-grade students from Sahyadri, Mahindra Giri, and Kalsubai groups took the stage to present various experiments that debunked superstitions. Each group demonstrated a scientific experiment and explained the reasoning behind it, proving that many superstitions have logical, scientific explanations. The experiments not only challenged popular myths but also encouraged critical thinking.
The 9th-grade students from Vindhya and Brahmagiri groups also presented their experiments related to superstitions, providing scientific explanations for each one. These presentations showcased how science can provide rational answers to seemingly mysterious phenomena.
