English Medium Secondary Section of AVB Phadke Vidyalaya arranged a guidance lecture for parents and students, on 31st July 2024, Wednesday, in assembly hall . Dr. Mrunmayee Patil (BAMS MD in Ayurveda) who is an alumni of the school itself was invited as a guest lecturer. Vaibhavi Maral madam introduced the guest and welcome all the parents and students present
in the hall followed by Head Mistress Mahajan madam welcomed Dr. mrunmayee by offering a bouquet prepared by the students, key chain and book. Dr. Mrunmayee started the session by recalling the memory of her school and defined health and Nutrition by giving examples of day to day life She explained, health is not only the absence of any disease but it is a state of complete mental, physical, psychological ,social well-beingness. She said that health is directly related to
our food habits and daily exercise . She informed parents and students about micronutrients and macronutrients in our diet. Parents were informed about the difference between nutrients like carbohydrates , fats, proteins ,fibres and how these nutrients provide energy to our body. She advised to prefer a balanced diet . She made the listeners aware of the quantity of different food items in thali of Maharashtra that provides balanced diet.
Parents advised to provide different nutrition to their child by making different healthy dishes with the help of the internet as the source of different recipies. She made the listeners aware about junk food, which has added preservative and taste enhancer harmful to our body which leads to produce different acquired diseases . She advised that we should ensure the ingredients of pack food items written on it to know their effects and side effects . As an ayurvedic doctor She conveyed the message to all by Ayurveda and she recommended to avoid over eating to stay healthy.
She explained about side effects of substances like refined flour, sugar, and Ajinomoto in our diet. She recommended parents to make different healthy dishes at home so that it will help children to build good eating habits. Similarly, advised not to follow the messages blindly about food information from media without confirmation . She advised parents to make the child
aware by explaining why they should avoid particular food by explaining how the protective layer of teeth erode by acid form by bacteria in our mouth. She advised all develops good eating habits from childhood gradually . She recalled her memories of school that school always preferred to carry healthy food in tiffins and requested parents to cooperate this initiative for their wards health . She advised parents to be friends with children so that the child will prefer to discuss their issues with them. she suggested to add healthy nutritious food in their child diet as well as explained the importance of breakfast. In this way, the lecture concluded with expressing gratitude towards school by Dr. Mrunmayee Patil to provide apportunity to conduct
lecture on health and Nutrition in school.
Road Safety Week was celebrated in the school from 12th to 18th January to create awareness about road safety. The objective of National Road Safety Week is to educate people about the dangers of reckless or irresponsible driving. Various programs and activities were organized in the school to promote the cause of safe roads for all. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti festival, a drawing competition was organized on Tuesday, 14th January 2025, in which the students of class VIII beautifully drew various road safety symbols on kites of different sizes, while the students of class IX tried to convey various messages to the parents through their graceful drawings to follow traffic rules based on road safety. The exhibition was held on Saturday, 18th January 2025,same day their was a guidance lecture on road safety and disaster management was organized, for the parents and students of classes VIII and IX of English as well as Marathi medium. The chief speaker of the program was Hon'ble Shri. Sharad Kumbhar, RSP Commandant of Navi Mumbai, Municipal Corporation. The program began with a welcome speech by Headmistress Manisha Mahajan, followed by a informative session. Mr. Sharad Kumbhar provided valuable information on road safety rules, importance of traffic signs and signals and also suggested tips for safe driving. He also discussed road traffic control measures and the importance of safety rules.In the second part of the session, Mr. Kumbhar spoke about disaster management, focusing on how to protect oneself in natural and man-made disasters. The session was interactive, in which students actively participated. Followed by a road safety quiz was also organized for all the students
as well as their parents in which they actively participated. This commendable initiative was highly appreciated by the parents.
